While most parks protect epic mountain ranges, mind-blowing geysers, or enormous canyons, Everglades National Park was the first park created for the sole purpose of protecting a fragile ecosystem. It has nine distinct ecosystems, hundreds of native species, and six federally protected species that call it home.
